I know there have been other postings about manuka honey, however thought many readers would be interested in this new development. One particular specialist product - Manukacare (from Comvita) - which is a medical grade, sterilised manuka honey, has now gained a UK medical devices license and is now able to make a claim for reducing the risk of infection from bacteria including MRSA! At least with this you know what you are getting, as apparently there are problems with some of the manuka honey sold in shops (being fake). This ManukaCare has a CE registration, so there is some quality assurance for it. And being sterilised it is ready to use on wounds and leg uclers etc. See here for more: http://www.newzealandhoneyshop.co.uk/manuka- honey/manukacare-18.html 10619

I don't think that just because something has a medical devices license it automatically means it is effective. But I also have heard of some people having really good results in healing wounds with manuka honey. If it can also attack / reduce MRSA for some people then great. It does make sense to have a properly sterilised quality product to use. By the way the link above isn't working - think because across two lines.
