How and Why Garlic works

Research has shown that there are 33 isolated compounds, at least these 33 are the Most Active substances, including the sulfur containing compounds of ALLICIN, ALIIN, CYCROALLIIN, AND DIALLYLDISULPHIDES. Here is a list and breakdown of active factors that are present in garlic.
ALLICIN, - this substance is largely responsible for garlics antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, and the odorous factor in garlic.

ALLIIN - the sulfur containing amino acid in garlic from which allicin is made by the action of the enzyme alliinase. This content is ascribed the antibiotic effect of garlic.

DIALLYLDISULPHIDE-OXIDE - the chemical compound into which allicin is changed in the system. This factor is attributed the cholesterol and lipid-lowering effect of garlic.

Gurwitch Rays - the mitogenitic radiation factor that stimulated cell growth and has a rejuvenating stimulating effect on all body functions.

Anti-hemolytic factor - responsible for it's beneficial effect in the treatment of anemia NOTE: THIS FACTOR WAS PROVEN TO BE PRESENT ONLY IN ALLICIN-FREE GARLIC PREPARATIONS, SUCH AS KYOLIC OR LEOPIN

ANTI- ARTHRITIC FACTOR - shown in Japanese studies proven affective for arthitis

Sugar regulating factor - which makes garlic useful as an adjunct in the treatment of both diabetes and hypoglycemia.

Antioxidant factor - Shown to inhibit rancidity of foods, therefore can be used as a natural preservative.

Anti-Coagulant factor - studies showed effective blood anti-coagulant factors.

Allithiamine - this is an excellent source of biologically active compounds of vit B1. It's beneficial therapeutic properties prevent and cure beriberi

Selenium - Is believed that garlics anti-atherosclerotic property (preventing platelet adhesion and clot formation) is due to its high selenium content which normalizes blood pressure and has been shown to protect against infections

Garlic is a powerful detoxifier. It neutralizes toxins present in the digestive tract and eliminative organs, as well as in the blood, and has a beneficial effect on the function of the liver, kidneys, nervous system, and circulatory system, and strengthens the bodys defenses against allergens, so is used in treatment of allergies, asthma, and hypoglycemia

Due to garlics antibacterial and antifungal properties, it has been widely known as a blood purifier

Other active factors in garlic ALLISTATIN 1 and ALLISTATIN 11 were found to be powerful agents against staphhylococcus and E, coli, and was found useful it treatment of chronic colitis, gastritis, grippe, and whooping cough

Garlic has been attributed with miraculous healing powers, and used throughout medical history in treatment of many kinds of disease. The medical greats used garlic to cure everything from intestinal infections and digestive disorders to high blood pressure, senility, and impotence.

So you see, in order to reap the full benefits of garlic, it is necessary to take either the garlic supplement pills, or garlic cloves. Taking something that isolates a few constituents robs you of all the rest of garlics healing properties and all that it has to offer. It has so many healing properties in it that you might have other minor problems that you really weren't trying to treat improve just from taking a daily garlic supplement. 13083

FAQ about MRSA

A while back some of the forum members requested that i set up a page summary about MRSA and then one for re-building your immune system, So here's the first one on MRSA.

WHAT IS MRSA: Is a strain of bacteria that has developed an antibiotic resistance to penicillins including methicillin, oxacillin, amoxicillin and possibly other types of antibiotics. MRSA can cause serious infections such as surgical wound infections, pneumonia and blood steam infections. Once MRSA is in the bloodstream, it can attack vital organs and become fatal in 20-25% of the patients. MRSA was first discovered in the UK in 1961 and was then typically found in hospital settings, therefore MRSA has been nick-named "Hospital superbug" or HA-MRSA=hospital aquired MRSA. However, MRSA is no longer exclusively found in hospital environments. MRSA can now also be contracted in community settings and is called CA-MRSA, meaning community Associated MRSA. You may not only contract MRSA, but un-knowingly, also "help spread" MRSA - this situation is quite preventable.

HOW IS MRSA and CA-MRSA contracted? : Approx. 20-25% of the population is colonized with staph bacteria. In otherwise healthy people, staph bacteria is commonly found on the skin in form of pimples, minor cuts, scrapes, boils and in the nose. In those areas staph bacteria are present, but only cause an infection in approx. 1% of the people. MRSA is no longer found just in hospital settings, nursing homes, health care facilities and wound care centers. MRSA outbreaks can now affect anyone, at any age. MRSA outbreaks have been reported from the following community settings and groups of people: children day care centers, high school athletes, college wrestlers, football teams and other contact sports, military recruits, public fitness, gym and aerobics centers, public and private hot spas, worl pools, saunas and steam baths, shopping cart handles in food stores, restaurants, hotels. Any public setting can be a breeding ground for MRSA: public transportation, public restrooms, guard railings, contaminated items and surfaces, crowded living conditions and poor hygiene may also be contributory situations for MRSA.

One of the most common sources of MRSA transmission happens when a person, colonized with staph infection, is admitted to the hospital for surgery and other procedures, un-knowingly bringing the bacteria into the hospital. At this time the patient is colonized. but does not necessarily show any symptoms. Once the patient is in the hospital, staph bacteria is easily transmitted through human hands by medical professionals, performing tasks such as for example measuring the patients blood pressure and other routine functions. There are so many sources in the hospital where hands can get contaminated with MRSA, and MRSA is then easily spread from patient to patient, unless, medical professionals apply appropriate hygiene and wash their hands after every patient visit with soap and water.

HOW CAN YOU HELP PREVENT CONTRACTING AND SPREADING MRSA AND CA-MRSA? Wash your hands frequently especially when working in any type of healthcare facility or in food preparation such as restaurants and hotels. The Center for Disease Control reports that, if medical personnel were to wash their hands as recommended, approximately 30,000 lives could be saved annually in the U.S. alone. Medical professionals need to use gloves when changing wound dressings and wash their hands befoe moving on to the next patient. Wearing protective gloves and washing hands, will greatly help to reduce the un-necessary spread of MRSA from patient to patient. Alcohol based hand sanitizers have proven to be effective to help combat MRSA. If you know of someone who is infected with MRSA, do not share bathroom utensils such as razor blades, toothpaste, towels and other toiletry items. When you have a wound, cut or scratch, cover it up with a band-aid to help avoid contracting MRSA

Wash your hands with soap and warm water. Keep cuts and scrapes clean and disinfected. Avoid skin contact and sharing of personal items with anyone who may have an infection. Disinfect objects that you share with others before you use them. Always use hot water to wash clothes and towels that might be carrying staph/MRSA

Keep the infected area covered with clean, dry bandages, Pus from the infected wound can infect others. Wash you hands frequently with soap and warm water, especially after changing your bandages ot touching infected skin. Regularly clean your bathroom, kitchen and all other rooms, as well as your personal items. Wash clothes and other items that become soiled with hot water and bleach. Dry clothes in a hot dryer, rather than air drying, helps to kill staph/MRSA in clothes.

Vancomycin and teicoplanin are glycopeptide antibiotics used to help treat MRSA infections and are administered intravenously. The downside? several new strains of MRSA have been discovered that are showing antibiotic resistance even to Vancomycin and teicoplanin. Less severe infections can be treated with oral medications.
Merck Pharmaceutical researchers announced that they discovered a new type of antibiotic called PLANTENSIMYCIN. This new type of antibiotic seemed to be effective against MRSA. The Thilisi Institute in Georgia found PHAGE THERAPY to be 95% effective against MRSA. Phage therapy is used in cases where conventional antibiotics no longer respond to a MRSA infection. BACTERIOPHAGES, or simply PHAGES, are viruses that penetrate bacterial cells and cause them to burst and die. The virus spreads quickly, so usually a single small dose is sufficient. Last, but not least, honey dressings, in particular ACTIVE MANUKA HONEY dressings are being successfully used for prevention and treatment of MRSA. ACTIVE MANUKA HONEY is a naturally organic honey, collected from the wild, un-cultivated tea tree bush in New Zealand, and has stood the test of time. This medicinal honey has been researched by Dr. Peter Molan for over 2 decades and was found to naturally destroy staph, strep and H. pylori. This honey also seems to successfully destroy the hospital Superbug MRSA and VRE(Vancomycin resistant Enterococci.) Active Manuka Honey is applied to burns, wounds, ulcers, sores, surgical scars, decubitus sores (bed sores) diabetic leg and foot ulcers, amputation stump wounds and other MRSA and VRE staph infected wounds.

Since there's no way to tell that we're completely rid of the MRSA once you are no longer testing positive for it(Whether colonized or not, it can remain in your body dormant, waiting for that lack of immune system support to become active again) The only sure way to fight it is to re-build your immune system, turning it once again into a healthy fighting machine. And the only way to do this is with natural suppliments and natural herbal products.

There are 4 essentials required to build a healthy immune system.
1.First, is a product high in phytonutrients and preferably in liquid form. A few examples of this type of product are Puritans Pride Exotic Four Blend, Enivas VIBE, and Mangosteen L. Any product of this type is fine as long as they contain as many of the following suppliments as possible(gobi juice, accai, mangosteen, noni, pomogranate, aloe vera, green tea, and any product that supports the immune system) Dosage can be up to 1oz 3 times a day, then a maintanance dose of 1 oz daily forever to maintain immune system health.
2. The you need a good probiotic, taken up to 4 times daily until ready for a once daily maintainance dose. And again, any product will most likely do but you need more than merely asodolpholis tabs as they're not enough to keep C-diff in check.
3. The third product is a high dose of Vitamin C. Each person may need to experiment with the dose, but start with a minimum of 5000mg daily in divided doses and you may need as much as 10,000mg depending of whether you already have other problems that could suppress your immune system such as anemia, pernacious anemia, malabsorption problems, gamma immune deficiencies etc.
4. And number 4 is a good odorless Garlic that has a high allicin and allin count. Garlic is natures antibiotic and it is the allicin constituent that acts as that. But garlic has too many benifits to mention and is essential to take the garlic tab in order to gain all the benifits that aide in re-building your immune system. NOTE: You can get a product called ALLIMED that is great to take when you're trying to get rid of the infection itself, but you also need to take the garlic tablet as there's too many benifits you would be losing out on without it.

Follow these for basic steps, and you have built a solid foundation to re-build your immune system. Then of course there are several products that you can also add to your daily regimen to support and improve what you've already built. I would recommend the following if you wish to add more suppliments. Green tea, Colloidal Silver, Multi-vitamin, Oregano oil to name a few. And last but not least, some of you may be asking
HOW CAN I PREVENT MYSELF OR MY FAMILY-MEMTERS FROM GETTING INFECTED? Here are a few simple but important steps to follow: 1. Wash you hands with soap and warm water
2. Keep cuts and scrapes clean and disinfected. Keep active boils or lesions covered and use gloves and separate trash bags to dispose of bandages properly. 3. Avoid skin contact and sharing of personal items with anyone who may have an infection. 4. Disinfect objects that you share with others before you use them. 5. Always use hot water to wash clothes and towels that might be carrying staph/MRSA 6. Regularly clean your bathroom, kitchen and all other rooms, as well as your personal items. Wash all your clothes and towels separately. 7. Dry clothes in hot dryer as it helps kill staph/MRSA. 8. Use hand sanitizer constantly. 9. use Clorox wipes, clorox surface cleaners, lysol spray and the PS spray and wipes that are known to kill MRSA and STAPH on contact. 10, And last but not least, be sure to take all the suppliments to re-build and support your immune system, as this is the only way we have to fight this monster.

I hope this helps people, especially those who come new to the forum and are new to the MRSA infection. I will try to add to this and keep a summerized list of frequently asked questions updated to help those who need it and manby don't have time to hunt for the answer on the forum. Good Luck to us all. LindaA

Re: Burning Painful Feet
Reply #5 by Vern Posted: May 27, 2008 at 10:26

I had hot, red swelling of one foot and half way up the calf accompanying a staph infection on my ankle. This condition developed about a month into a 6-week session of antibiotics. Several small spots of rough, scaley, red spots appeared further up my leg over time, and then started appearing on my other leg. I sometimes sat with the foot in a wastebasket of cool water or sat with the foot elevated. It would get worse when sleeping, so I learned to keep the foot outside the covers. My doc was not too interested in the rashes or the hot, red aspect. He focused on the weeping staph infection, but this hot redness and creaping rashes became almost as worrisome as the staph to me. From Internet research I guessed that I had a fungal infection that was spreading because the antibiotic was suppressing my immune system. Or something. Then I found the garlic extract allicin and that took care of both conditions. I was kind of stuck for a while, because what worked for the staph let the fungus(?) grow, and vice versa. The allicin seemed to kill both at the same time, but it was slow over a period of a couple of months.
Note: I responded earlier but my post was deleted, I guess because I mentioned a particular brand name. The brand name is not important - the goal for me was to get as much allicin to the infection without driving my family out of the house. I slept in a different bedroom for a while. I found a brand of stabilized allicin that was very potent and didn't seem as odorous as raw garlic. There may be other sources as well. Knowing what I know now, if I could not obtain a potent and stabilized commercial source of allicin, I would experiment more with raw garlic, maybe crushing in cold water and sipping the water and swabbing on my leg. But then the concentration would be variable and the shelf life questionable, so I will continue to play it safe by using the commercial source on a maintentance basis. I quit once and the staph came back, so I will use the allicin for a long time at a low dosage. It even seems to be helping a hypoglycemic/candida yeast infection I have had for years. A substance that kills staph and maybe has POSITIVE side effects is something of a novelty. 13094

In Texas. Dec 07 noticed small bump under armpit. Bump became larger, second one appeared and then another appeared under my other armpit. Out of town for holidays. Tried to squeeze as much puss & blood out as I could. So very painful. Finally in the shower as I wiped the rag across the area to wash it, I saw something coming out of the hole. It looked like I could grab onto it and pull. I did, and a very long string of puss like material came out. As soon as that came out, A LOT more puss and blood rapidly oozed out. DISGUSTING. Dr. said that was the 'core' that I pulled out. I was put on Clindamycin for two weeks. Finally healed. Early April 08, small raised area on my stomach, very very tender to the touch but still fairly small in size. Waited a few days, looked like a pimple of some sort, but would not bust. A few more days later a whole started opening up and it was black inside. Still not draining. The hole opened up more, redness around the site spread across my whole stomach almost. More pain as the whole opened up more. Saw the Dr, she wanted to numb the site before she lanced it. The infection had eaten so much fat and tissue that the medicine was squirting right back up out of the wound. She was able to lance it a little bit but, she sent me home with bactrim and clindamycin. It left a HUGE hole in my stomach, still healing. Painful from time to time as scar tissue forms and grows together. Had my 3 kids (9yrs, 7yrs, & 11mos) tested with nose cultures, they came up clean. Had my husband cultured, he tested positive & was put on antibiotic nose cream. So far, no more outbreaks. Threw away all bath towels, bought new ones. Immediatley washed all bed sheets in hot water, 2 cycles each. Enrolled the kids in house cleaning, their part is their bathroom & toilet adn removing the sheets from their beds weekly. Also, after my second infection my doctor advised bathing myself & family with Hibacleanse. This is surgical type soap used in hospitals. x$10.00 per bottle though. Bought 5, very hard to lather. There is anothe brand that my pediatrician recommended for my 11 month old that lathers better and is a bit better o nthe skin. I apologize that I don't remember it off hand right now. Was bosy & hair with this soap. Use anti-bacterial soap. Keep hand sanitizer with you. When your out in public, try your best not to touh anything and then itch the rim of your nose or eye, ear our mouth. Keep all wounds clean and covered. Check yourself daily, especiall bigger people like myself. I do multiple daily checks each time I use the restroom. The other checks I perform in the shower. Do not use old razors. The bacteria on the razor can get into the now open and exposed hair follicle. So not share toulettries. Use hot water when you can, as hot as you can stand it. You'll have to use more lotion, but oh well. Basically, once you get it, it will never go away in your mind. Therefore, your cleaning tactic increase 100X fold, you almost become OCD about it; and you have to - otherwise it will come back. Also, sad to say - the clean up efforts and gettin my kids and husband tested were all my ideas. My primary doctor didn't recommend it. Good luck everyone... 13096

MRSA is a highly evolved strand of Staph. It can easily be dealt with (assuming the doctor dealing with it knows how). The main thing to realize is that it can be spread very easily.

I have MRSA. I caught it from my mother how had to go to the hospital with my brother about three years ago. She spent about 6 months in and out of hospitals and bed ridden. Soon they found out that she did have MRSA. Not long after this, I cut myself shaving, and broke out on my chin. It took me one trip to the doctor to find out what it was...MRSA. My doctor, who is brilliant and knows a lot about infectious diseases, prescribed me an antibiotic ointment called Bactroban, generic is Muprocin, both work really well. Anyone who may even THINK they have Staph (MRSA especially)go and see an infectious disease specialist. It can be serious if it isn't dealt with QUICKLY.

Since then, i got three piercings, two in my ear and one in my nose. It is highly recommended NOT to do this, since MRSA colonizes in the sinuses. However, with the proper ointments, I have had no problems.

I hope my story helps, and am relieved when i found out that I'm not the only one with the acne issue. It just takes proper medication and time. 13101

I have been MRSA free now for 18months.And thanks to my son, who is a personal trainer, we've been successful in finally starting to get the weight off that I gained during the 30 weeks on IV Vancomycin taken over a 52 week period. I've had to increase my physical activity to 1 1/2 hrs daily, but I've lost about 20lbs since the 18th of feb. This is about half of what I gained during my 16 month battle with MRSA. 13104

I'm having success bringing down the swellings to almost normal: using Qtips, a new one per swab: peroxide, NEEM OIL, hemeroidal cooling gel (reduces swelling and stops the itch), antibacterial gel, cover with gauze and sleep. I've started ingesting Umeboshi Plums for their extreme alkalinizing properties. I was perscribed Bactrim (is Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim = Bactrim, correct?) Thank you for your support. This forum is so helpful! 13120

In answer to your question… [“Bactrim (is Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim = Bactrim, correct?)”]
Yes. It appears to be one oral conventional antibiotic that shows success in controlling MRSA, although similarly in my case, once it was stopped, I did experience further outbreaks.

I’m glad your having success in your MRSA battle with whatever method of care you’ve chosen, in saying that I’m one who believes in cautions, attempting to think ahead, and believing everyone should seek all information concerning any product, for their own protection… can you tell us, are there any cautions we should know about concerning the products you mentioned? Please tell us more about NEEM OIL, and the theory behind ingesting Umeboshi Plums for their extreme alkalinizing properties. I’m sure others would find the topics interesting as well.

Sorry for the bit of confusion on forum, we are working on placing all product information in one place, this concerns products those of us who are MRSA infected have tried, which we believe has helped us with our own personal MRSA battles.

It’s very nice to know you find the forum helpful Aynne, we hope this new change helps finding product information easier in the long run.

MRSA is like LYME or cfs but with a staph infection. Same thing that works for Lyme will work for MRSA.

Long term, a year or two, doxy and riaphim. Build immune system. Olive leaf and st. john's wort also work.

What was the antibiotic you were taking? There is a possibility you have been left with lingering effects. To answer your question… yes there have been reports concerning both issues you explained (metallic taste in mouth, mental malaise) concerning antibiotic
Sulfamethoxazole (eg Bactrim, Septra, Septrin). Below are a couple of sites you might be interested in reading if this was the antibiotic you were taking.

Have you had a recent blood culture for MRSA?

Ihave fought mrsa for years and find that in the end, it is an immune-system failure. The only real way to overcome and heal from mrsa ( which some say cannot be done - but it can!)is to strenthen your immune system.

Since we are all nowadays too busy, hgarried and often stressed from pain, we get tired from the struggler to maintain. The only answer is to follow beeef up your immune system while following doctor' medications until completed and using clean precautions. Along the way and after finishing medication, here's what will get your imuune system workign and allow you to resist fututre imapcts of everpresent bacteria and viruses, especially mrsa...whihc I have fought for 4 years and finally overcome.

1. Switch to a fruit and vegetable (organic is possible) source of whole, live foods, to acquire amazingly healing live enzymes that metabolize all the nutrients for optimum body functions.

2. - So important!: - consider that 70% of your immune system exists in your intestinal tract and we must revive our immune system by recovering balance from our inside out: take Probiotics everey day. At least 1 billion units per day (try Kyodolphilus, it is well-balanced and worth the price!-take a few every day)

3. - Next, beef up natural-soouce B-complexes - these amazing B's will rejuvenate you form the inside out. I call them my "B-Happy" pills...htey alleviate st4ss, calm nerves, clear skin, help in clarity of thought, help hair get stronger..on an don.

ABe good and try this B and Probiotic regimen for one moth, and see how it helps you! You will be on the road to a strong immune system.

For skin, I have found that Povidone-iodine liquid (Betadine srub) used daily in the shower and Icthammol salve applied two timesa day will clear up mrsa. Please research Icthammol on Internet to learn more. I not sure how I came to this after the creams and antibiotics but B's, Probiotics and Icthammol are the secret.

I have been following this regimen for three mothns after fighting insidious, deep-rooted fiercely resistant lesions for the last 4 years, despite all treatments. Thye have all now healed up. It is a blessing, it has taken so much work on my body-mind-spirit...but I have found that the B-Probiotic-Icthammol regimen is so simple and worth the little time-----no matter what a doctor feeds you, your poor body is depleted when it succumbs to mrsa...the mrsa is a sign that imbalance is extreme.

I feel for us all...overworked, stessed, struggling to enjoy life a little...afraid to touch our kids and hurting whn we are touched the wrong way...the intenral aches that linger...mrsa robs you of so try this little regimen for 1 month, faithfully, take best-quality mega-B's to keep you peaceful and calm, to heal your poor sore skin, to clear your mind, restore clarity....take the Probiotics to promote balance from within, to enliven yor entire immune system. It works and I praise whatever wisdom moved me to these two items. Icthammol to draw out poisons and heal abused skin.

Here's a note about Icthammol ointment: when you put it on your lesions, you will notice the infection drain out shortly. Weird. Use cotton gauze pads ove rthe heavy applicationyou'll need to appkly to achieve good drawing power onthe affected area. Try it, even though it seems messy-it's worth the mess! - when you can devote time to resting and letting the medicine sit on the sites and do its magic: you will see the poison rise to the surface of the area and drain off..and as time goes by, the infected skin will slough off, the healing, new skin will appear, soft and fresh...ichtammol stops encrustion around the edges of the lesions, it drains off the posions and lets healing begin and stops the pain fairly quickly. Just messy but who cares...the effects are real and work.

Icthammol ointment, Mega B-Vitamins and Probiotics, fresh fruit and vegetables, yogurt, calm time, water, reduced intake of white things (sugar, white flour, etc.), go whole-grain, also I use Same-E, an Immune Support supplement, Vitamin C, a really good organic multivitamin, Milk Thistle for liver support (immune system), Alpha-Lipoic acid for fat metabolization (liver support), essential fatty acids and fish oils for reduction of inflammation, and iron (only because I battle severe anemia after being immuno-compromised (out of balance)) for 4 years).

I also take a whole-food enzyme suplement, which I highly recommend to make sure all your nutrient are being utilized by your body. Enzymes and probiotics enhance each other's functions.

Summary: The main three things really work. I tried everything and have had all the aches, pain and misery you all discuss. I have had such agony I thought I would die. As have many of you. Try this and see, give it a month. I'm curious to see if it helps.

mrsa is a symptom of life and body imbalance. mrsa is cruel because it fools you into despair and apathy. It causes you to hide and shun life. It destroys you rinner and outer beauty. I lived it deeply and painfully for four years. Got better, got worse, got better, got worse...on and on. It's over now, hallelujah. My deepest wounds are healing so well. Most are gone. Life is good now and I feel great these days. I had forgotten what great felt like! I count every blessing all day long becuase I am healing so well. My balance must be improving or something....anyway, it is so good not to ache and feel ashamed. I am here to tell you that you can feel better. I hope this helps!

best wishes and healing hugs! 13127

I understand what you are saying. Because of deep MRSA lesions from past outbreaks, most of us have remaining scars. I’m not sure there is anything that will help lessen the appearance of these scars, other than makeup. I’ve also seen advertisements for scar reducing products, although personally I have not tried. You might ask pharmacist’s opinion about scar reducing products available at your local pharmacy.

Hope this helps you.

If you have MRSA please try the following cleanser. I know that everyone is sick of trying things and being guinea pigs but Hibiclens works pretty well. The ointment Bactroban and Itchammol work decently also. Another good thing to heal up sores once they have opened is Johnson & Johnson's First Aid Cream. It heals fast!!! 13144

Oh it can most definitely cause your face to break out. It can cause a breakout anywhere on your body. Trust me. I always thought I had acne but it turns out the places I have been getting were MRSA all along. I have been to so many doctors and finally one cultured an area and I was diagnosed with MRSA. Right now I am dealing with a small outbreak. It's so freaking annoying. It can be devastating but I am NOT going to allow it to ruin my life. Life is to short. I hope everyone who has this horrible crap isn't letting it steal their lives from them. There's a big world out there people, let's enjoy it regardless of MRSA outbreaks or not. I know it's easy to say but things could be worse . . . it's true. Sometimes I just sit and cry about it but thankfully those times are very few and far between anymore. Somehow someway life has to go on. Some things I have found that sort of work are, Hibiclens, Johnson and Johnson's First Aid Cream, Red Oil, and Itchammol Ointment. 13145

"I would not want any large MRSA lesions permenantly dyed." quoted Linda

All I know is I want them gone!!! I have tried nearly everything. Right now I have the Itchammol ointment and a bandaid on mine. I am hoping this helps to heal it. It is drawing more infection out of the area I know. My spots are open thanks to me. I know I shouldn't have done it but they get gigantic. This insanity has to stop and I have to stop playing a part in it. It's devastating. I'm so sorry for anyone else who has this. I just want to say don't let it take over your life. Trust me, if you allow it to, it WILL. Life is way too short to be anything but happy and yes that means even if you have a big sore or a painful boil right between your eyes. Life isn't going to wait for it to go away. There is no pause button. I am most likely going to try the gentian violet soon. 13143

Are you doing anything to re-build your immune system while fighting your MRSA? No matter how healthy you think you are, if you've had MRSA at all, you need to focus on re-building and strengthening your immune system and making it healthy again. It is really a 4 step solution. You need Phytonutrients 3-4 times daily, Probiotics 3-4 times daily, and then you need Mega doses of Vit C and Garlic, and the garlic needs to have a minimum of 6000mcg of active allicin in each dose, and a Min of 8000mg Vit C. Please check the product forum and look up the post about re-building your immune system as well as the post about the benifits of Garlic. This has worked for me and I have been MRSA free for almost 18 months now. Good luck to you, LindaA 13146
