read through several of the forums and one thing seems clear. Amity and NewGenn are no go areas. Product a no go. Sales talk a good job. Seems to be the general concensus on these companies.
So, can anyone tell me of a good, trialed solution to this problem. If so, i will be very very interested

New Antibiotic?

Copy and paste the following link - this is about a new potential antibiotic discovered from bacteria that grew in the firth of forth, which produced antibiotic microbes when put on a sponge/scourer sold only in Morrisons supermarkets. Tests showed that the chemical produced attacked and ate MRSA bacteria. Sounds very bizarre, and even if these tests do produce something positive it is at least 10 years away from clinical trials - but all the same it could be good news for future infection control.

We are continually being asked about avian/bird flu and what precautions can be taken. I've done a some research myself and I've also asked B.Braun. I realise that this is an MRSA forum and not an avian flu forum, however I hope that this will help clear up some of the enquiries as there has been mention of this subject on this forum on previous occasions. I've set up a link for anyone to access the information.

Dalek exterminates ward bugs
By Nigel Hawkes
Machine that kills hospital infections is being ignored by the NHS

THE National Health Service has ignored a British technique for eliminating dangerous infections such as MRSA and Clostridium difficile from hospital wards.

A six-month trial — conducted in the US with the co-operation of the Atlanta-based Centres for Disease Control — has just finished and has provided solid evidence that bugs can be killed using a technique developed by Bioquell, of Andover, Hampshire.

The method was successful at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Buckinghamshire after it suffered 300 cases of C. difficile infection and a dozen deaths. “We have been trying to set up a trial for the last year in the UK and got nowhere,” said Nick Adams, Bioquell’s chief executive, yesterday. “In the US it took three months to launch the trial and the results were so g... read more

How ever much I do not wish to remove any postings it’s the forum moderators and the MRSA Support group that get all the accusations of possible libellous postings and the threat of lawyers getting involved and not the sometimes anonymous contributors. After speaking to Tony Field the support groups’ chairman, he has asked me to remove all postings regarding a certain company. The main reason being that posters of alleged libellous content are not contactable to confirm their stated facts. Therefore any such posts can be removed unless the author provides both real name and some kind of contact detail such as a phone number. Then that person can be contacted to confirm the facts of their posting from the company or individual being mentioned rather than forums moderators and the MRSA Support group. In order for this open forum to continue, such rules unfortunately may need to be applied.

Started by E. Bates Posted: December 2, 2005 at 11:11
Why do you have a banner saying Brian Bennetts Skincare roducts are for MRSA. I looked at their web site and there is NO claim made now for MRSA. You are misleading the public.

I have looked through this forum and seen that previously Mr Bebbett himself made public claims about the 100 kill of MRSA. I have rad the abstract of Frank's posting from the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy that says there is now a product that has been tested against MRSA. I cannot afford to pay the $28 to read the whole report. If there is someone who can let us know what the full report says I would be very interested.

Please remove the Skincare products and apologise for this misleading advert.

SCIENTISTS HELP DEVELOP NEW COMPOUND TO TACKLE MRSA

For immediate release
Thursday 8 December 2005

Scientists from Imperial College London have helped develop an innovative compound which can rapidly kill MRSA.
Research published online in the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, reveals that a novel compound AQ+, was effective at killing all Staphylococcus aureus strains tested.

Dr Mark Enright from Imperial College London, who led the research, said: "The number of hospital acquired infections is increasing and this is causing major problems for healthcare professionals. AQ+ could prove to be of tremendous importance in fighting hospital infections as not only is it extremely potent against MRSA, but is also effective against other types of bacteria."

After clinical trials the researchers hope the compound will be used in gels for hand washing in hospitals, to treat infections on the ski... read more

I've just returned from a meeting and I have very good news.
The MHRA are to prosecute companies promoting disinfectants and sanitisers to this market claiming to kill MRSA, if that product is not registered under the European Biocides Directive. Effectively what this means is that any company making claims and not having the appropriate registration will be brought to task.

I am due to have an NHS operation in January and I am very worried about the MRSA bug.
I have seen the article in the Daily Record about AQ+ which details a leading expert in MRSA, Mark Enright, who says that he has tested AQ+ and it will kill MRSA.
Could somebody let me know ASAP how I can get hold of the product and does it come in a spray?
