Look under title "Full story-We healed our son of recurring MRSA"
Just wanted to give everyone an update. We're still taking the MetaBerry and Aloe Gold twice a day and a probiotic every other day. I hope this helps. I'll keep everyone updated. After 11 mos. of fighting mrsa boils and countless antibiotics we're now free of any mrsa boils for over 8 mos now. We are thrilled and just want to share our news.

Yet another reason for the use of the Nightingale UVGI units in our hospitals...
Scientists in the UK have found that a type of amoeba acts as an incubator for MRSA bacteria. As amoebae are often found in healthcare environments this discovery has implications for the infection control strategies adopted by hospitals. The single cell amoeba, Acanthamoeba polyphagam, commonly eats and digests environmental bacteria. It also engulfs pathogens such as MRSA. However, instead of being digested by the amoeba, MRSA survives and replicates whilst inside the amoeba. Prof Michael Brown and colleagues at the University of Bath, found that MRSA in association with amoebae increased in numbers 1000- fold. The pathogenic bacteria, Legionella, also replicate inside amoebae and are then released into the environment. The released bacteria are less susceptible to biocides and antimicrobials, and are more invasive than the same bacteria which have grown freely. Replication within amoebae may have... read more

Envirocair
Started by Tina Posted: April 3, 2006 at 11:35
As anyone heard of envirocair? Apparantly the National Blood Service has tested this product for two years and it works.t eliminates virtually all known airborne and surface bacteria and visuses, including MRSA.
In a letter to The Times newspaper published 4th March 2005, six eminent microbiologists expressed their concern at the generally accepted view that better hygiene is the key to fighting MRSA. Cleaner hospitals and more frequent hand-washing, though desirable, will not solve the problem. They point out that MRSA spreads on tiny skin particles carried in the air and that "to be truly effective, measures to contain MRSA must block airborne transmission".

Ozone therapy.. an objective report
Started by Peter Garner Posted: March 29, 2006 at 06:11
In desperation, just before I allowed my self to be admitted to the hospital I tried ozone therapy. I am going to try to list the results and my unprofessional opinions as accurately as possible. First I am very familiar with the power of ozone. I had used it in my store (hot tubs etc) for purification for years. I have very poor circulation do to blood clots and have formed reoccuring stacis ulcers (open sores) I have been battling this Mrsa bug for over 2 months including emergency room visits etc. It had spread to both legs particularly with heavy blisters and skin sloughing. also rashes and blisters had started forming in other areas. I started with typical antibiotics and was put on the heavier stuff (i.v. and injection) later on. While this was helping, even one day after the medicine ended I would be in agony with blisters swelling etc. after searching for possible help with litt... read more

THE BIKE RIDE (by Tony Field)

In the last newsletter I stated that I would attempt to ride 10,000 metres on Halesowen cycle track and asked for sponsors. Thanks to a very kind offer of the loan of a rather special Tricycle made by Roman Road Cycles in Carmarthenshire I can now tell you it will be a Trike ride.

My sanity has been questioned over this and I have also been told that I am too old! Ouch! That hurt. So really I now have to rise to the challenge and just to remind you I did achieve 5,000 metres regularly on the exercise bike during my physiotherapy treatment, anyway it might be fun!

This is to raise funds to help cover the costs of the AGM. Plans are well advanced for this now and you will find a sponsorship form here. We would be grateful if you would ask your friends and colleagues to support us. We need to raise mo... read more

Bio Laundry Sacks MRSA
Started by Phil HADLEY Posted: March 24, 2006 at 13:53
I have taken the liberty to post an editorial to raise awareness that new products are available to assist in th fight against MRSA

UK COMPANY DEVELOPS WATER SOLUBLE BIO LAUNDRY SACKS TO FIGHT MRSA BUG

Staffordshire based Acedag Limited have developed an all new concept for infection control whilst handling soiled and infected linen in hospital laundries.

The Dissolv-a-way Bio sacks are fully water soluble laundry sacks impregnated with an anti bacterial, inspired by the need to abate MRSA,

The Dissolv-a-way Bio sacks not only contains the bacterial elements of soiled linen, it effectively kills them.

Independent tests with Staphylococcus aureus (Resistant strain) showed that the Dissolv-a-way Bio sack reduced the count of MRSA bacteria by greater than 99.9 % . Microbiological results were outstanding, plus NZ/I results confirmed no zonal inhibition but inhibition noted in contact ... read more

MRSA killing lotion
Started by Bill Posted: March 8, 2006 at 16:45
I've heard that a new patented product is coming onto the market in April that is a truely efficacious MRSA killer, but is alcohol free (so it won't zap your skin as well). Apparently it should show up in the press over the coming weeks. Has anyone else heard something similar

Hi Conart,

You've gone quiet! Any news on Energy Techniques at all? I've been told today by a business associate that Diffusion have gone bust, but I can't find out if this is just the air con arm or the entire Energy Techniques operation - their website is still operational. Do you have any idea what is going on there?

Tea tree

I am saddened to see that so many people are still having such a bad time with MRSA. In my experience a considerable amount of prevention and control can be effected using skincare products containing Tea Tree.
I have an Honours degree in Biochemistry. I ran a business supplying Essential Oils for Aromatherapists for 10 years. I have first hand experience of the success of my friends and customers who have used Tea tree - and the infections of those that haven't.
I have now retired from being a supplier.
I have helped write a website about Tea tree that can be found at www.TheTruthAboutTeaTree.com
This includes a page about using Tea tree to prevent MRSA infections. This includes easy, cheap recipes for anyone to make up themselves. The site is also building links to sites that detail proper scientific research showing the effectiveness of Tea tree against methycillin resistant staphylococcus aureus.
This is not a commercial promotion. The site includes no links to supplie... read more

Anybody heard of or got any further info on Steris and their VHP system?

Hi,

as you all know, hand hygiene is important to prevent the spread of bacterias (also MRSA). Saraya, a Japanese company, has developed a touch-free dispensor to sanitize your hands in a safe and easy way. This dispenser is now available on the UK market.

MRSA

Iam going to undergo 2 operations on both my legs. I will have 3 metal plates and 4 screws inserted into my bones on each thigh and lower calf, these will be left in for 1 year, i will then require another operation to take them out, both of these procedures will be minimum invasive surgery(cosmetic, so as nt to leave huge scars) I am a healthy 18 year old, but am still worried about the risk of catching a superbug. What are the risks involved for this opperation for a person of my age?
Also, if a superbug gets into my bones, will it still be curable? or would there be nothing anyone could do to help?
Any insights would be appreciated
Many thanks

Shameful behaviour

Just to let everyone know that visits this site.
My suspicions were aroused by a posting on the Avian flu thread from an enquirer naming themselves as Chris Beesley. This is, of course, the name of the Chief Nurse and to pose as someone else with this name would be shameful. I was challenged regarding information and this person used the email address 'c.beesley@hotmail.co.uk'. I do not answer hotmail addresses on this site. I was subsequently emailed by 'Chrisbeesley7@aol.com'. Due to the fact that this person had emailed me directly I was able to check out the I.P. address and origination point of the email. Disgracefully there was a match with the I.P address and origination point of a director of a company who refuses to use his own name on this site but does regularly contribute under his company's name and had emailed me previously. I won't dignify this person with a name only insomuch as to say I know who you are. This is from the email that he sent to me "I currently work ... read more
