MRSA IN ROYAL VISTORIA HOSPITAL AND MUSGRAVE P

My brother inlaw was in the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast and caught MRSA after a spinal injury. He was transferred to Musgrave Park, Belfast to rehabilitate where he promptly caught C-difficile. Then he went back to the Royal and promptly caught MRSA again. This is crazy. I used to work in Cardiology and we would never have been allowed to do the things I saw in these 2 Hospitals. No changes of gloves, no hand washing between patients, sharing wheeled toilet commodes between infected and non-infected patients, no barrier nursing, no patient advice before entering, no soap in dispensers, filthy floors everywhere - it is a gothic nightmare to behold. Whatever happened to hard working conscientious cleaners who did it for the sense of patient well-being and protection? The high point of it all was the 'scrubbed' surgeon walking through the common room area, still gloved and gowned, where 2 patients were sitting - one with c-difficile, the other with MRSA. Lunacy. 23731
